A Message from the CEO of Be Team International
March 18, 2025
The Journey of Zarifa Shirzad
July 14, 2025As we close the fiscal year 2025, I want to take a moment to reflect with deep gratitude on the extraordinary impact we’ve made together. In the past year, our dedicated teams at the Cure Hospital in Kabul have delivered over 3,000 babies and performed more than 2,500 life-changing operations. We continue to invest in the future of Afghan healthcare by training midwives, obstetric and gynecological doctors, surgeons, and family physicians. Beyond the hospital walls, our outreach efforts have provided a three-month supply of food to 50,000 Afghans and extended vital medical services to over 30,000 individuals across fifteen provinces. Thanks to your support, Be Team International has made a profound impact; however, there is still more to do, including expanding our facility and programs, as well as continuing our outreach feeding program. You’ll read more about these important projects as you peruse this newsletter.

We want to take a moment to honor a cherished friend and steadfast supporter of our mission, Kate Grant, as she steps down from her role as CEO of the Fistula Foundation. Kate’s visionary leadership has transformed the Foundation into the world’s premier organization addressing the needs of women with fistula. Her unwavering commitment to dignity and healing has inspired us all, and while she will be deeply missed, we are confident that the Foundation remains in strong and capable hands. We are grateful for her partnership over the years and look forward to continuing the work she championed.
Additionally, I have had the pleasure of reading Kate’s newly released book, No Woman Left Behind: A Journey of Hope to Heal Every Woman Injured in Childbirth. Kate shares her efforts to advocate for and act on behalf of women suffering from fistula with humility and passion. She shares the story of her professional journey and her unstoppable efforts to grow the Fistula Foundation. Please order a copy. All proceeds from book sales go to the Fistula Foundation. You can purchase a copy of the book through Amazon here. As we set our sights on the coming year, improving healthcare for all Afghans will remain paramount in all we do. With your continued support and prayers, great things are on the horizon for Be Team International during the coming months.
