From the Field | Cure Hospital, Kabul Afghanistan

Yousuf Khan MD
Cure Hospital Director | Chief Medical Officer
Be Team International
Yousuf Khan, MD has served as Cure Hospital in Kabul for nearly eighteen years, now leading a hospital team of 323 Afghan health professionals as Cure Hospital Director and Chief Medical Officer. Under his direction, the hospital has trained more than 130 doctors, extending skilled, compassionate care to communities well beyond Kabul.
“For nearly 18 years, Cure Hospital has been more than my workplace, it has been a place where I have grown professionally while contributing to a mission that truly changes lives. Every day, I am reminded that healthcare is not only about treating illness but also about restoring hope, dignity, and opportunity.
What inspires me most is Cure Hospital’s / Be Team International’s unwavering commitment to providing evidence-based, high-quality care to those who need it most. Equally meaningful is our investment in strengthening Afghanistan’s healthcare system by training and mentoring healthcare professionals across the country. Seeing the knowledge and skills we share improve patient care far beyond our hospital walls has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my career.
Throughout my years here, I have had the privilege of working with dedicated colleagues who demonstrate compassion, excellence, and integrity in everything they do. Together, we have overcome many challenges while remaining focused on serving our patients and communities with professionalism and respect. I am proud to be part of an organization that not only heals individuals but also builds stronger healthcare systems and invests in the future of Afghanistan. Knowing that our work creates lasting impact for patients, families, and healthcare providers is what motivates me to continue serving with dedication every day.”
Support from donors sustains the mentorship, training, and supervision behind numbers like these, turning experienced staff into the next generation of teachers. We are grateful for Dr. Khan’s steady leadership, and for eighteen years spent in service to Afghanistan’s mothers, children, and families.
